On May 3, 2008 my watercolor class met at the C & O Canal Visitor's Center. I created a demonstration,
and we watched the canal barge load up a tour group of children and enter the historic lock. A team of mules
pulled the barge upstream and then back to the dock.
It was a beautiful, warm, sunny morning, with welcome dappled shade from the large trees on the path. Everywhere
we looked was a picture waiting to be painted! My students created some great art.
The focus of the lesson was the white building and reflections. My prior lessons in this class had covered basic
watercolor techniques, water reflections, and a variety of greens. Seeing a demonstration is also very helpfull for students,
and can break down a more complex image into understandable steps.
